Liverpool based events company SK Events approached us on behalf of Liverpool Council for a temporary structure project in early July.
The structure was required for John Moores University, whose students were graduating around that time, and featured a ‘finish line’ style installation on the route of a graduation parade through the city.
Having realised a need for high-level temporary structures, which can often be considered cumbersome, expensive and logistically difficult, we’ve recently developed a system that eradicates these issues, and that was used for this project.
Our new truss tower systems can be built up to 10 meters high using chain hoists to raise and lower components, providing a much more cost-effective solution to our clients.
Water ballasts were used to weigh down and keep the structure stable (in place of extremely heavy concrete bases). This saves time and costs for manpower to transport and install the ballasts, which are simply taken to the site and filled with water there and then.
The client gave us some initial sizes to work from and from this we designed the structure from scratch, presenting several options, which were then tweaked until finalised.
Aluminium trussing, ballasts, towers, and mesh PVC printed with colourful graphics by our in-house printing facility were used in the project. The client was thrilled with the results and had a few words to say:
We were very impressed with the services received from TrussLite. Unfortunately, we were let down by another supplier and TrussLite stepped in with only two weeks to go until the event, not only did they price match our original quote but they delivered a service both very professionally and efficiently and were very accommodating to our extremely tight deadlines and changes. We would definitely use TrussLite as our first choice company for another event going forward.
